Today’s children are raised in a world that tries to eliminate risk but children love adventure; they want to take risks and do things they have never done before. Centreshot captures that sense of adventure by developing a child’s skills in archery while developing their relationship with Jesus Christ at the same time. Strengthen relationships in family as you mentor young lives using archery as a tool to reach your community with God’s love!
Centreshot is an outreach strategy that uses the life-skill of archery as a tool to assist local churches to reach communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was designed to help the church gain access to the more affluent schools in our part of the world. We envision influencing children who will become politicians, businessmen and women and leaders in society through this programme.
Access to schools is gained through volunteers (dads, moms, pastors, etc.) from churches who minister to children in a discipleship programme that pairs with the archery training. Competing in the national and worldwide competitions of the “National Archery in the Schools Programme” is just one part of the picture. Schools are equipped with quality trained instructors who volunteer and help run programmes on their premises while churches use this as a tool to reach out to these young people.
The more affluent a society becomes the more we tend to have to compete for the time of these children and Centreshot
is one tool we use to help gain access to these children’s lives.
“Christ has done many things in the West Rand School for Cerebral Palsy through the Centreshot programme. As God would have it, a young boy of about 12 years old who is an orphan being raised by adoptive parents, has turned out to be our top scoring archer. Mrs. Dippenaar and his other teachers, family and friends have seen him grow in stature as his confidence and self image improved, as has the self-esteem of all the other team members. This is the real reward and the ultimate goal of the Centreshot programme, seeing lives changed by God’s grace and the love of His people toward one another. With grateful hearts we give Him praise.” Jan van der Merwe
